Taken from car window in Kruger Park, overcast drizzly day, there was a small group of jackals, rummaging around looking as if they had been up to no good! They paid little attention to us, but momentarily something caught this one's attention.

Hi Jon, I like the fact it's not actually looking at you, but away from camera. The hint of rain in the BKG is very subtle, DoF is right, but if you wanted more of the rain to come through, then less SS. I might be tempted to loose a little of the space to the LHS and go a tad cooler, the coat looks a bit warm to me and just pull back a little on the Blacks & Contrast so it's a fraction less dominating, but personal choice. The perspective works and I like the fact there is a good amount of FG.
Cute little fella! I have not seen one Jackal in the Kruger but maybe they are scarce in the North
I like this image, the environment is really nice and subject stands out beautifully against the soft BG. Lovely pose too. POV is great.
Colours look good overall. I trust Steve's eye so tempted to agree with him regarding jackal's coat. But looked at some of my images and a number of them look like yours - the species vary in colour so hard to tell, I must admit I like things on the warmer side so maybe I should review my own work before I comment on yours, LOL
Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you have a lovely week-end, I really enjoyed viewing
Very nice shooting angle Jonathan. Nice clean BG so you get good separation.
Colours look good to me...If anything the sat dropped by 2 points all around. Thats it.
Very nice Jackal image...Better than anything I have gotten
Great POV Jon...lovely pose and I really like the inquisitive look. The subject stands out real good against that BG. Nice detail and colours on the Jackal. Well done.
Hi Jon a very neat shot of the Jackal , does look good to me on all counts .
I might give Steve´s thoughts a try about the blacks ....
I personally would drop the oranges in the subject ...that is all what i would suggest .
Nice one Jon

Thanks very much everyone, your feedback is not only welcome but essential!! I think the colour balance is slightly out and I agree remove more orange Andreas, I did do another version with less orange but then I didn't like the background - hence this one....... should have used a mask eh? Never mind the next one will be perfect - trust me I am a scientist ....... well I was once.... yes it was a long time ago
