Hello John,
Those Smoky Mountains are indeed Great and I imagine also teeming with wildlife Your Coyote makes me think of our jackals here in Africa, same sly look and that purposeful trot as if he has a "plan".
Techs look good, composition works and subject pops nicely against the BG. Hard to comment on colours as I have never seen the species - but they look natural to me.
I would not try remove the shadow over its face completely, but have you thought about lifting it a bit? Just a tad so the R eye is more visible. I am saying this because I think the strength of this image lies on the subject's expression (eyes tell the story, he is searching for prey and cautiously looking around avoiding danger).
Otherwise no nits from me and I enjoyed this, very much. Maybe I must look for a jackal image for you, if I find one I will share so you can see the similarities
Looking forward to more from you, and hope you have a wonderful evening,
Kind regards,

Hi John - Nice walking pose on the coyote. The grass looks deep. Colors look good. The bg looks a little grainy, maybe a round of NR will help.

Hi Jon, a better POV, but having the head slightly to the right has cast a shadow which is unfortunate, perhaps try lifting the shadows a bit as the Dynamic range is a better with the MK4. I think f/5.6 would have been fine here.
