    Lovely portrait.
I just wish you had been at f 8 or f9 to get more DOF to keep the tip of the bill in focus.A higher ISO would have been the answer to allow for higher aperture.
Do you have others where the head was turned a bit more to the right to allow for a sharp beak at your aperture of F 5.6?
Love the hairdo and the colors,

Hi Juan, beautiful bird... everything is spot on except the out of focus tip of the bill. If mine that would doom the image. Gail's suggestion of looking for another from the series with the head turned and sharp focus on the bill is spot on. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the comment and suggestion Gail. I was on a boardwalk like 10 feet from the bird with no way to back up, so my DOF was around 0.33 inches. Moving it to f8 was only going to give me 0.47 inches that still wasn't enough to get the bill in focus, so I decided to go with these settings trying to get both eyes in focus. I just love this guy hairdo! Thanks again.

Thank you for the comment Joe. I may have another one like you and Gail described, but I found that one to be a very common picture. Thanks again.

Hi Juan, love the do and face detail except for the beak which disappoints... I hope you do have another where the face is turned and the beak is in focus. I see a ? ghosting, halo on top of shoulder, any idea what that is and why?

Really like how focus is right on the eye. The details look good. Maybe a little tight in the frame.

As many might guess, I am fine with the soft bill tip. Even f/22 would not have sharpened that up. And the background detail would have been horrific. To me this one is over-saturated and much of the WHITE is grayed out ...

Nice details and a unique look at this punk rock egret. I am 50/50 on this one. I don't mind the bill being out of focus and I agree that a typical portrait shot has been done a thousand times so I applaud going for something different. But I fully agree with Artie as the whites of the bird are completely gray.

Thank you again everyone for the comments and suggestions. I reduced the saturation and worked on the whites. I really hope this look better. Please let me know what you think.

Ann, I don't really know what that is, but it is on the original RAW file.
