    Default Dunlin Portrait.

From May, when I encountered my first ever Dunlin in breeding plumage (I see them every year during fall migration in their "winter" plumage). This individual came really close, even closer than this when all I could do was watch. Even at f/10 it did not fully cover the dof on the subject, but I am still very happy with thee nice close ups it provided. What a wonderfully coloured shorebird these guys are when in peak plumage!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/10, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, just about FF (~85-90% FF), cleaned up the reflections in the eye, and removed a couple of minor specks onthe bill.

Nice work handholding at that shutter speed! Beautiful bird, this shot looks good to me. Interesting comp, generally I'd prefer it a little tighter or showing the whole bird. Sometimes I don't like these intermediate shots but this one works for me.

Hard to get a nicer closeup of a breeding plumaged Dunlin than this. I really like the soft color palette. Crop works.

Hi Daniel, lovely image. The soft pastel color of the background compliments the wonderful color of the breeding plumage of the Dunlin. Techs excellent as always. Thank you for sharing.

Killer plumage with amazingly bright colors. Perfect framing at an often awkward distance. Dead solid perfect head angle. And did I forget the perfectly clean bill?

This is money. One of my favorite breeding plumages. Perfect details - f/10 worked nicely. Warm/Pink tones very pretty.
