Black skimmers

There have been several nice recent skimmer images, and that made me think of a trip I took to Long Island, New York with Art Morris and some others a few years ago to photograph black skimmers and terns and other birds. Artie was teaching us about blurs, and so one evening I went off and practiced the technique. This one is my favorite. Canon 7D II, Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6L IS II at 400 mm, ISO 320, 1/13 at f/6.3.

Hi David,
Im generally not a fan of blurs but i surely like this one, I like the hint of orange bills! That white diagonal on upper right side draws my eye and so I'd suggest a removal! TFS

Thanks, Ann. Art Morris used to call me a "blur hater." :) I agree about the white diagonal. Hanging out here makes me notice things I had never noticed before!

I quite like this. I agree 100%about removing the white line in RUC.

This is quite eye-catching and could see it as a big wall print. I would also do something about the top right white bit. Thanks for sharing and keep experimenting!
