Very nice image of a spectacular bird. (It looks like a pileated woodpecker, a US bird, that has had gold dust poured on its back!) I like that you can see one toe from its left foot as well. I don't really like the rising branch in front of the bird, but I'm assuming this was a live wild bird in nature, so you take what you can get. Nice overall.

Thanks, David... natural light and setting for this wild bird.

This is looking real good and 'natural' Everything looks great, it looks as though the bird is focused on some prey on the branch. Well captured.

Hi Debapratim. This has the wow factor for me...such a colourful bird and tack sharp. Did you do some cloning from the neck to the branch?, as there seems to be a sharp division between the background colour at that point.

    Hi Paul,
No cloning is done, its a OOF brownish branch against a dark patch.

I like David's description of this bird! The image looks good for the most part, but I would definitely smooth out the hard horizontal line between the subject's chest and the branch.

Hi Debapratim, Excellent IQ here, and I like the overall detail you have captured on this fellow. Good DOF and nice and sharp. Some would say the perch is too big, but Im fine with it, as I never have thin perches in my images.

Such amazing woodpeckers. I have seen them many times in Thailand but a treat to see here!. Details and perch are nice. I like the vertical branch as I think it adds interest. I agree that I would smooth out that horizontal out of focus branch. Would also increase the exposure a little.

nice woodpecker the perch is a bit distracting for me and over powers the bird but it is what it is. The image has a yellow cast on my screen
