I spent some time in Colorado last month photographing Greater Prairie Chickens on a lek. I was blessed with some sweet morning light, and this bird cooperated with a picture-perfect takeoff.

The light is beautiful, with lovely detail on the bird and a great looking pose. The open bills adds so much, with the reds inside looking good against the yellows throughout the image. Nice POV and HA.

Hi Doug, well timed for the take off, and you scored big with getting the open beak, good HA, and raised wings. The BG colours complement the Chicken nicely.

Screamin good frame Doug, I like all of it! I don't know the species but Im wondering if it is slightly over exposed , and maybe there is more richer color with the browns on the bird... Wow!

Beautiful take off pose here with the open beak and dangling legs. Sweet background. I would reduce the exposure a little and the yellows in the bird as well.

Lovely image, the open/calling beak is great. I agree that a slight turn-down of the exposure would add a bit of contrast and make the whole image pop a bit more. But it's really sweet regardless.

Great pose, especially with the call as well. I might be tempted to bring down some of the brightest whites a little

You sure got a great looking frame here Doug!! Love the pose and the open beak really adds to the image. You should have posted the repost we did as this one dose look a bit "Thin" Have a great trip and talk to ya when you get back.
