taken at Sunset dam Kruger. these little guys just gave me the run around, I was swapping from 1.4 to 2x TC then back to prime lens, it proved impossible to anticipate where they were going. As soon as I was convinced they would go in one place they went to another consequently this is a rather large crop.

Well captured Jon. Lovely detail on the bird and a nice HA. Colours look good to me with the underside showing well. Would have loved to see this cropped tighter, but seems near impossible to get closer.

I like the pose with the spread wings and the open beak. Pretty good head turn for a straight on shot also. The head looks soft to me.

I agree that the bird need to occupy more of the frame to be fully effective. Lighting looks pretty steep, so I think you did well considering the conditions.

Not a perfect flight shot but still very good considering the difficulty of your subject and conditions. Really like the feather detail on the wings and the tail. Open beak is a bonus also!

Hi Jon, great hovering pose, and with an open beak. I can only guess you captured this whilst it was hovering over the round concrete overflow structure.

Do you know if this was a male or female - they are easy to ID ( that is why I didnt mention it above )
