This adult bear stood to scan the area as there were other bears in the area and she wanted to see where they were and whether they were a threat to the cubs.

    Hello Rachel,

I guess we were posting at the same time tonight, LOL

This is one very special sighting my friend. Superb setting and BG is to die for. The bear standing upright fills the frame so nicely, it all works so well.

I like everything here, from DoF to detail and textures. The only thing I would do is perhaps up the saturation a bit for a more vibrant look, but of course this is entirely up to you

Incredible how many wonderful bear images you have... I wish for just one

Have a wonderful evening, thank you so much for sharing!

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

I like the composition and the pose, it may be me but the image looks a little lacking in colour, slightly bright, I think it needs a little more pop.

Pretty neat. Like how you have a nice view of the left paw and its claws. The details look nice as well.

Nice standing bear Rachel with good detail. Would have preferred a sliver more on the LHS, but no deal breaker. A bit more pop, personal taste, but I would have thought the chest area left to right would have been a fraction darker and more in shade. Nice to have the subject so close.

Thanks Gabriela, Jon, John and Steve for the kind comments. As always, much appreciated. Steve - I was trying to go a little less contrasty and with more detail in shadow areas based on comments on some of my other bear images. I can go a bit darker on the shadowed area of the chest.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

If it's in shadow then I would leave it, goes back to backlit bears. Yes, you can control 'contrast' in PP, but it looks flat and lacks that tonal range I would expect, therefore I would leave it as shot Rachel. I could be wrong, but it may look more 'natural'.

What a beauty Rachel - I like this one a lot, especially your changes in the repost which has helped this in my view. I did see this a day or two ago and never got around to commenting but had a similar view to Jon. I like the setting and pose, especially the great detail visible in the paws. Composition works for me too.

Fantastic image Rachel. The RP is my vote. a little darker in the shadow is more realistic. I'd give the eye a little more sharpening. Like Steve, I'd like a little more room on the LHS. Where was it taken? Loi

Thanks Jon, Glenn, Loi and Haseeb. Loi, this was taken in Lake Clark N.P. in Alaska at Silver Salmon Creek Lodge.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel
