It's so pleasing when this species cooperates. This is the same individual I posted recently, before it came down to ground level and allowed full frame head portraits.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, small crop from below and right, a couple of faint twigs cloned out.

    This is really nice Daniel.
Great perch and I love the peeling bark.
    Exposure is spot on.
I might to tempted to clone out the branch in LUC but certainly not a deal breaker.
I could see a version with a bit more room below for the tail but very nice as presented.

Really nice Daniel, love the tree. I agree with Gail about moving the bird a little higher in the frame. Nice frame. Thank you for sharing.

Just about the perfect Pileated pose. As you say, nice when they (rarely) cooperate. Great background, some interest in the perch. Well exposed in blacks and whites; tough to keep from blowing that fiery crest. Another vote for just a sliver off the top and added to the bottom, to make if perfect.

Nice pose and perch. Wish I had a photo of one of these birds. Crop is fine to me. Only thing I would do is pump up the blacks or mid tones a tiny bit.
