I like the open wing landing pose and the intense look on the buzzards face. IQ looks good but on my monitor the tail feathers are in the sharpest focus. Thinking a higher ss would have worked better to stop some of the motion blur.

This is very nice but the problem is that nothing can top the image you posted back in December of the buzzard on the icy stalks in the wonderful light!
The light is not as good on this image.
I do like the bit of old blood on the buzzards right wing. It tells us a bit of the natural history.
The icy stalks are wonderful.
I would have like a bit more DOF and SS which you could have had by bumping your ISO up to 1250 or 1600. The 5 d MK IV can certainly handle the higher ISO.
Very nice,
Gail

The bird is great but I like the frozen ground even better! Next time get that ISO higher (at least a full stop) so
as to get a faster shutter. That would have made those cool feet super sharp!

love the pose and ambience with the ice stalks, I think this one is just as good given the dynamic pose and the display of under wings. I agree that your shutter speed was a bit slow here and caused a bit motion blur in the head. you could have easily bumped up your ISO to 1600 and doubled the shutter speed
