Another recent capture from Botswana. I would say we were very lucky to see such a variety of Kingfishers, and in so many numbers. A lifer for me. C&C welcome.

nice perch and pose, the side light worked against you here, the whites look a tad hot and the lightening of the pupil has made it look a bit unnatural. KF's eye doesn't look like that. I would back off on your shadow pulling. nice perch and BG BTW just wish the light was being your neck

Wow, you really scored getting this KF. I have never seen one, despite 4 trips to Botswana.
The perch is great and the BG so clean (another hard thing to get in "the bush").
I am OK with the sidelight. I really like the way the wind had blown up the feathers in the crest of head.
Did you lighten the pupil? I have never seen these guys in real life so cannot comment on the eye except to say it looks good to me.
I do think you raised the shadows a bit too much on the KF flank so I would fix that and do a happy dance on this lifer,

Excellent bird and pose. Good head angle as well. Ca't ask for a better background and your background details look good. Kingfishers in many parts of the world are not nearly as shy as Belted Kingfishers are. And that is a good thing as they are really beautiful. In between the bird and the knob to the left of it there is a small piece that is sticking up just to the left of its foot. It looks like you either cloned something there or did not make a good selection when applying NR to background. Same goes for the right edge of the stump that is sticking up to the left of the birds chest. Just go back a few steps and fine tune that selection. Agree with toning down the highlights of the bird and perch.

Nice. Good pose on the bird with a neat perch. I don't mind the side lighting.

Thanks everyone. Yes Arash and Gail, I did lighten the pupil a bit, but a tad too much. Also the hottest whites do in fact need some attention. Thanks Isaac for your perceptive eye, and I did not clone anything in that specific spot, but I'll look at the original again.
