    I like the BG very much and your choice of crop.
    I realize the bird is in shadow but I would select the bird and brighten him/her by about 7 or 8 points.
    I would have liked to see you at a higher aperture of 7.1 or 8 to get a bit more DOF on the face and bill. I do not know Nikon well, but I am sure you could have bumped up the ISO to 800 easily to get more DOF.

    Hey Joe - I like that BG too, and the eye looks pretty tack sharp. Thanks for sharing.
