Hi John - This looks good with nice eye contact and detail. Sweet light again and the comp works for me, though I might have preferred a sliver more below. The only thing I wonder about is if you had to significantly recover the whites on the rear leg. They look a little too grey to me.

Thanks Rachel, No recovery of the whites here. They just look a little gray like that.

Hi John, well 9/10 for me, you have a nice DoF, no blown whites/highlights, with good detail, cracking light and I feel this is your best this year in terms of PP. Please don't think I'm trying to be funny, far from, this is a very nice image and very little, if anything, I would choose to change. You have some lovely detail in the snow, retained the 'glossy' look to the eyes and good texture/detail in the rack, this image also has capture the detail in the fur which the last image did not. Perhaps a little big in frame and this is where you need to build on composition framing and if the subject was further away from the backdrop you may have achieved far more of a diffused BKG. Being at the furthest point distance wise re the lens, has certainly helped.

Hello John!
I really, really like this a lot!
Super techs and your choice of DoF is perfect here, subject stands out beautifully despite a busy BG. Lovely eye contact and such a pretty pose from the Buck. Great colours and tonality, sharpness is there, nice detail too.
One of your best as far as I am concerned - congratulations
Kind regards,
-
Thank you Steve and Gabriela.

I second the comments made so far - this is a great shot, John. Excellent detail and nice form captured in the coat. I like the bits of snow and ice on the buck's head too. Had the buck seen you or did you just wait to capture this as it was scanning?
