Here's an odd shot of an odd bird to start off the new year. I wouldn't have seen this guy on the forest floor unless someone had pointed him out. I had left the wide angle lens in the car. With the 500 I was much too close, and had to climb a few steps up toward an observation deck, look down on him and stitch fore and aft shots together into a single pano. These are odd looking things on the ground, but we got several views of them in flight where bold wing markings made them quite attractive. Unfortunately both flight observations were quick glimpses as they flew low across our path and disappeared into a thicket.

What a fabulous bird, nice close up revealing camouflage feather detail.
A good image Bill, considering you were too close, well processed.

Excellent PP. I would not have known had you not disclosed the stitching.
I would LOVE to see this bird IRL someday.
I like the little curly-cue branches on the ground! Good details on the bird.

Nice job on the PP, I also wouldn't have known. Nice details and I like the crop. IQ looks great at the ISO. Such an interesting looking bird that I can't recall having seen. TFS

This is a very nice catch under the cramped conditions you were in. Like the detail on this well camouflaged bird, and great stitching in post.
