Actually, the bald eagle call is rather a wimpy sound!
Winter is here in Nova Scotia (windchill temp -30C today) and with winter the eagles return.
    Canon 1DX 600MM ISO 1250 SS 1/4000 f 6.3
PP: Almost FF with about 10% taken off RHS and a sliver off the bottom.
Nothing added or cloned.Eagles lured in with meat and fish.
Processes in LR6 and PS- lifted shadows under the wing and removed 2 dust spots.
I wish you all a happy holiday season and a wonderful 2018 filled with lots of magical subjects and light!
    Take care!

Hi Gail, brilliant capture, and what a great head turn and open beak to push things up a few notches. Exposure and sharpness all tops, and I do like that the sky has a hint of clouds.

My bucket list is to visit you to photograph these guys one day.

Elwood and I would be thrilled to have you and Colleen visit but I don't know how you would feel about the bone chilling cold!!

Brrr. It's bone-chilling enough for me here in Princeton. Terrific flight shot, with great detail, and wonderful screaming pose.

Wishing you all the best in 2018.

Can you imagine the windchill up where he is. Great flight capture, Gail. Very nice detail with screaming open beak.

Hope you have a great New Year.

Great photo, all the right stuff here. Good details, perfect head angle and lovely soft BG colors.

Pretty much have to echo everyone here but lovely shot. I love the BG, light, pose, and the calling beak is great. -30 C -- wow! I was out today in 15 F and I thought I was cold! I like the bit of brown at the bottom. TFS

Stunner of a shot Gail. Brilliantly processed to bring out great depth and tone in the bird. Of course, catching the 'scream' really lifts this one a lot. Hard to imagine how you could have done better. BTW, I hope we'll get to see more from NZ and surrounds too.

-22 is wat too cold. Come to NYC where it is a balmy 15! Image quality is great as is the calling pose. I wish the head was a little more parallel to the back of the camera. Also wish there was a little more separation between the bird and where the dark line starts on the bottom of the frame. Happy new year Gail and am looking forward to more of your fine images in the new year.

A screaming eagle... would fit the 101st Airborne Division well (whom I served alongside with in Vietnam). Lovely flight image, a pose not often seen. Nice techs, the comp looks boxy but not sure what else to do with the extended wing and keep the bird this size in the frame. Thank you for sharing, Gail.

What a great looking frame Gail!! Love the wide open beak. We can see right down it's throat! Wing position, exposure and details look fantastic too. Nice capture. I have never been in front of a Baldie so maybe I need to come out to see you sometime, that is if I can handle the cold. See you soon.
