    Conditions overcast with a high fog.

    Image made with a Canon 30D and 24-70mm f/2.8L lens handheld, natural light

    1/1250 sec at f/3.5; ISO 200; 0 EV; Focal length 52mm

    I think you have used the dof extremely well here......getting front edge to center sharp.
    Excellent color in that overcast light.....colors are at their truest when it is overcast

    Ed I love this image as presented. The colours just pop and the DOF is great.

    Hmmm, fog in Maine? How strange! ;)

    Thanks for the critiques. I was very pleased with this image. And I was particularly happy with the background. In provate gardens like this, they tend to frown :( on photographers landscaping the backgrounds so I had to deal with what was there. Shooting at f/3.5 certainly helped. I have several other flowers from Thuya that I like a lot but the backgrounds are a little busier. Oh well. Glad you like this one.

    A superb capture Ed - a lovely flower beautifully portrayed. The overcast conditions has produced the ideal diffused light for you. Well done!!

    It's a keeper, that's for sure. It IS a dahlia, BTW...and a beautiful one at that. Those colors really dance!

    Hey Ed, you've done a great job with these flower heads but I would like to see you try some these in verticals and add some stems. Well done.
