I was about to walk out of my back door when I saw this young Cooper's Hawk fly into a nearby tree to harass my feeder birds. I grabbed the camera out of the back room and fired off a few frames, through the double-pane glass door. That, and the high ISO, are not the best ingredients for good image quality. By the time I had strategized on how to get a better shot, he had departed the scene. Despite the IQ, I thought it made a nice winter scene, and figured I should post at least one theme image for the month.
Very good capture even with the double-pained glass in front of you. Darn fine detail under the circumstances, and I like the forest in the background. Nice color and perch. Who manufactures the glass door?
Thanks Michael, Geoffrey and Gail. I don't know if it will take much cropping, but I'll take a look at trimming from the right. Much as I liked the scene, I doubt that it's a candidate for a print.
