    Curlews are usually unapproachable in UK so I felt quite fortunate to get this image in flight with the TC.

    Hey Jon, only say one Curlew this year so nice to see this, like the open beak . Why didn't you go for a greater SS as you had the ISO? Have you thought about a more pano with less above?

    Cool flight pose like the open beak wish it didn't merge with the bird so much.

    Critique accepted, the shot was taken in a blink of an eye at Whixall Moss, I was in the process of photographing dragonflies, I heard the curlew call, I spun round and fired off a sequence. I did have better poses but they were not pin sharp.

    Shorebird flight shots are so hard, especially in the situation that you described. You did pretty well considering but wish the bill was clear of the rear wing.
