We had enough winter last year to freeze the ponds at the Reifel refuge on Westham Is. here in Ladner, B.C. That pushed the remaining ducks into small open areas in the ice. The sun was 90 degrees off to my right for this image but I wanted head-on shots as the birds came in to the opening in front of me so I took my chances with the light. I like the way the late sun highlighted various bits of this fellow as set off against the glare of the ice and look forward to hearing what others think. I got lots of frames of him in close and landing but I liked this one best of that series. 7DII, EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM, ISO 1000, f/6.3, 1/2500, tripod
