Hi folks another one for this month theme ...
This Indian Rhino was having a relaxed bath in a small river in northern India , he was resting resting there for a while and i felt not disturbed by our presence .
Would have loved to get of the car and go down to waters edge ......but the rules does not allow it .So i had to take the shooting angle as it was .

    Canon EOS 1Dx
    Ef 500 IS L

    F 6,3 ; Iso 5000 ; 1/1000 sec

Processed with DPP 4.6 ( customized Fine Detail picture style ) and PS CC 2017 ; cropped to 70% of FF from all sides .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous posting .

    Hello Andreas,

This is one super special capture IMO. Shooting angle not bad at all, considering the circumstances. Had you walked to the water's edge, your presence and the sound of the camera shutter might have unsettled him. He looks so content!

Happy with this as presented, techs spot on and the composition works for me, rhino well positioned in the frame and just enough space around him. Nice reflection too, lovely pose, natural looking colours, I so like those extended nostrils just above water:)

You will be pleased to know we have had some nice rain here lately, hopefully soon I find a rhino wallowing in the mud again, it has been some time...

Thank you so much for sharing Boetie, I enjoyed viewing, very much. Let us have some more!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Lovely detail and I like the palette. I am sure you considered the composition thoroughly but I am just wondering what it would look like if we saw a little less at the base and more at the top?

Hi Andreas, it's not really grabbing me and it's on two main reasons, but I feel the crop is about right.

    - The very light FG is just grabbing my attention too much
    - Would like to see more of the subject, although I appreciate it's swimming

Having the inclusion of grass at the top I'm 50/50 on.

Sorry Andreas, perhaps it's 'snow' blindness???

Hi Andreas - No problem with the pov and understand the restrictions. I like the alert ears pointing straight up. Nice details and tones. I would prefer a little more room on the lhs. It feels a little tight behind the rhino.

    TFS,
    Rachel
