Hello Rachel,
Lovely image and it fits perfectly this month's Theme. What strikes me the most is the colour of the water and reflection. This handsome male giraffe stands out nicely despite the lush environment in the background.
I like the simplicity here. This is well framed, and with careful processing you have managed to retain and enhance the morning light. Also a certain stillness of nature at sunrise and what I would call a pool of almost perfectly still water in a clearing.
Thank you so much for sharing, I enjoyed viewing.
Kind regards,

Hi Rachel
One benefit from the "top down" view is that it works great for reflections. I like the typical winter browns and oranges here, albeit the BG is a bit busy and the giraffe kinda gets lost in there.
Nicely framed for symmetry.

Thanks Gabriela and Morkel, much appreciated. Morkel, I tried to time it so the reflection of the giraffe was in the gap in the trees.
Thanks again,
Rachel

Hi Rachel you have taken this shot in lovely light and you nice colors and tones throughout the image .The walking pose and the reflection are working very well .
What bothers me a bit is the BG to make this image looking appealing to me , if i am honest .
I do have to agree with Morkel and share his thoughts , that the Giraffe looks kind of lost , not much you could have done about this.
Sorry Rachel , TFS Andreas

I think Andreas has summed up my thoughts as well with this image Rachel.

Thanks everyone. As you know I prefer to show things as they were and that includes animals in their habitat which can sometimes mean a busier bg.

Hi Rachel nothing wrong with it , just not as appealing as a nicely separated subject , well to most of the viewers i guess.
Cheers Andreas
