Hi folks continuing with my older file contribution .....
Same location as the previous Rhino image .... close to Gabriela .
This old boy just made his way through the area where i was staying ..... i wanted to stay .... but he showed i should move .... and i did ... finally .As it was not my car .... the car was from friends of mine .
He came a long way across a wider clearing ...slowly moving ...... just going straight , and he was huge !!!!
Enjoyed that short episode with this big fella.

He does look mean with those skewed eyes, Andreas!
Nicely handled for a tough exposure in unkind light (well, light looks okay but with buffalo most light is unkind eh )

Impressive old buff... Tough light to work with but you handled it quite well. Great image!

Hi Andreas - Definitely looks a bit grumpy so I'm glad you moved out of his way. I agree you handled the light well. Interesting how smooth his boss and horns seem to be.

Hi Andreas -- On my trip to Kenya, i too found them always grumpy , wondered whats the problem with them , must be thinking that tourist from tiger land are going to annoy them with their tiger chasing behaviour , but have seen so many images here on BPN and realised the problem is something else . Either way I really enjoyed seeing their behaviour on the field and had some good opportunities to photograph also .

Coming back to the image , I also think you have handled the light very well and nicely processed as well . The FG is not ideal though .

    TFS !

Eish, but you can process so well, Boetie. The colours are spot on. Love those visible skin folds, the rich browns, polished boss. Nice detail. Superb skills Andreas, both in the field as well as with PP work

And thank you for not bashing the 4x4, this old fellow would have made a nice big hole in it, or maybe two. We would have had a problem going to the Kalahari.

I really enjoy seeing your images from around here. I might even know this chap, was he wandering close to the Hluhluwe gate? I have some images and video footage of a solitary fellow with similar features, his one eye is a bit blind right now but he is still a mean chap and very irritable.

Great work Boet, I like this. Thumbnail looks dark but what a revelation on opening, this frame truly showcases your processing skills.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks so much folks for your kind comments , much appreciated .

Gabriela you are right with this boy ... got him ,when you enter the park , on the large wide open space to the right before you drive up the slight hill. just before the first parking lot on RHS .

    Thanks again Andreas

Ai, he was still there on Sunday afternoon. Looks like he never moved, two years is a long time to spend in one spot...I will share the video with you soon.

Nice sighting Andreas, I just feel the environment is just too 'colourful/saturated' and conflicting with the subject. Going B/W with a lighter habitat could also work.

Thanks Steve for your comment , i am fine with the saturation . I do not find that there is a conflict . Agree with you that a B/W could work well , lost completely track of going B/W .
    Cheers Andreas
