Well, it's not as good as would have wanted, but a start :)

We have a lot of them now, I should say hundreds, so I'll be practicing further. The most difficult part I found is the focal length, since I was using the 600 and the 1.4x, it was very easy from them to flu out of my frame, so I'll probably go wider next time. Sure was fun.
They were done back lit with 1/3 over compensation. Didn't remember to turn on the flash, which may have helped.

    D300 (at 14 bit) 600/4 VR plus 1.4X
    f/5.6, ISO 400 (Aperture value +0.3 Ev)

You are my hero.....hand holding a 600mm for macro work.......dang!! Maybe not perfect.....but it does have the potential for a killer image. I really like the inclusion of the habitat.......takes it to a new level of beauty.

Love the color saturation and the way you captured the motion. Looks like a painting.

Cool capture, Fabs! The bit of blur on the wing tips give this a dreamy feel. The comp feels a bit boxy to me and I'm wondering what other crop possibilities there were from the full frame. Still it's a gorgeous image as presented.

Agreed... The motion and colors gives it a dreamy quality. Love the habitat you've included.

You weren't really hand holding the 600 & 1.4 were you?

    Steve
