Another from my time with the Snow Buntings on Cairngorm at the weekend.

Hi Will, nice to see these guys, was up at the car park, by the lifts?

Overall I find the image quite dark and although 'cold', the blue rather dominating, flooding a lot of the original colours. You don't say when this was taken and I have no idea how dark, or when it was shot, but lifting the Exposure, Shadows, etc and tweaking the WB and reducing the Blue (how far is personal choice) you begin to see I think, what you originally captured. When did you calibrate your monitor, please don't say Spring time .

With some fine tuning this is a lovely portrait, albeit a bit more DoF for me, likewise SS, however...

Hi will,looked at this earlier and did wonder about the blues but thought I would see what others would think,do think Steve's repost is right re the colour and exposure, but you have captured some very nice detail.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. Hi Steve, yes it was at the car park, It was quite dull, and I can see where you are coming from with the repost, thanks for that. I would say that somewhere between the 2 images would be about right. The blue/grey coloured rock the bird is perched on is actually the true colour of the rock. I calibrate monthly

A beautiful portrait indeed, one of the best images of a Snow Bunting that I have seen.
The repost exposure is better, but a slight blue cast can help to emphasize the cold. Personal preferences I guess.

Thanks for the comments Graham, it boosts my confidence, much appreciated. Personally looking back on it, I should have changed my WB to manual, I had it set on auto. I think this would have made a difference at exposure time. It was a very cold afternoon, the sun had just gone down under a nearby mountain, and light was scarce, but there.

Hi Will, what advantage would that give when you can do this in PP and then hone it?

Hi Steve, I always thought that exposure at time by camera was best . The camera, on the exposure set by me manually, was prob underexposed because of the brightness of the snow. I did lift it by +2. would the AWB over 'cold' it I should add I opened and processed in CC 2017

Sorry Will I don't understand this.

In my experience, shooting in snow conditions is different to how you normally shoot and where you meter off. Are you saying what ever the WB is when you shoot, you never change this?

Processing in 2017 won't have any barring on the image, it's just an update to PScc 2015.5.

If I had used manual WB instead of AWB The RAW file would not be so blue? Yes I do change the WB whilst processing, and I do realise that it is just un update for PS.
