Green-winged Teal: Poetry in Motion
I photographed this handsome Green-winged Teal at last year's Duck workshop that I co-lead with Dave Salem. The 3 Teal species hold a special place in my heart; they're challenging subjects (small and fast) and they are incredibly beautiful when you get the right pose in the right light.
Canon 1Dx, 600mm + 1.4x, f/6.3, 1/3200, ISO 640, manual exposure, hand held

Spectacular capture of this beauty - one of my favorites too. Tiny head turn, gorgeous background, exquisite detail. Near wing perhaps a tad less than perfect, but a different position might have obscured the speculum on the far wing, which peeks through nicely.

Beautiful capture. They fly fast so not easy but great light and bg. Well done.

Hi Doug, I like the upward flight pose and you certainly nailed the raised wings well enough. The detail, colours and sharpness on the head and neck are simply outstanding, and I do like the hint of the droplets on the belly. Well captured.

I find it difficult to take my eyes off the head of this duck got to be close to perfect with it's colour and sheen ,water droplets are icing on the cake, excellent job.
