snow bunting

This is a female snow bunting in breeding colors. She was quite busy collecting bugs and for long stretches of time would have a beakful. She just flew back and i was looking for a perch that would show the golden lichen, which can be seen most often on the volcanic rock in Iceland.

This is an excellent capture of the female. She gave you a perfect pose on the perch you were looking for. Love the soft light and all the fine, sharp detail. Golden lichen works well with her colors.

Hello Ann,the bg is a bit busy but it is such a nice one that it works very well,those lichens just add nice colour,bird with it's fluffed up plumage looks great.

Cute little gal. I like the feather texture of the raised crest. Yes, the yellows really do add a lot of vibrancy to the image. My eye is drawn to the bright upper left corner - I do wish is was subdued like the rest of the top of the BG.
