Took this image on a visit to the Loire Valley in France, the light was a bit harsh and the site was rather difficult to find, the bird was rather mobile. Canon 400mm 1/1600 Ap Priority. F7.1 ISO 400 Matrix

welcome Kerry to BPN and your first post! perhaps sharpening and noise reduction, a beautiful bird and pose, but lacks the details. TFS!
welcome to the forum Kerry, you found a nice subject but the image quality is horrible, looks like a cell phone shot. I am not sure if it is too much compressed or what. I am copying this image to the ETL forum where you will receive more help. what was the original capture like?

I have to agree with Arash, the whole shot is OOF. Is this a large crop? What camera body?

Kerry....Your image has some good points...The bg is nicely blurred and I think the eye and beak look sharp enough but the rest of the bird is OOF. The only thing I can think that might cause this is you were very close to the bird and the depth at 7.1 just did not carry to the rest of the bird. Once the bird settles, drop your shutter to around 1/400 sec and this would allow your aperture to be somewhere around f11. keep them coming!
Have to agree with your observations here Arash and a good call in moving it to ETL where Kerry can really learn from the others here. I keep thinking I've seen this in a hallway somewhere???
