I have nesting Chickadees in my yard in very dark conditions. Thus, the iso setting is the
only way to capture them. The D610 is unbelievable in low light. the best low light
camera Nikon has made I think that did not get noticed. It is better than the D800/810.
The parents look pretty ratty by now, the chicks are about ready to Fledge.

    f7.1, 600mm (300 f2.8 w/ 2x), 1/3200, iso25,600, D610, HH
    PP in ACR, PS6, NX2
Topaz NR, no NR on bird.

    Dan:

He does look a bit 'shop worn' from caring for the chicks. Probably can't wait for them to fly the coop!

Very good noise performance. I can see a bit of noise in the blacks on the bird, but minimal.

I could see a more vertical crop of the frame, just an option.

    Cheers

My 1DX wouldn't have come close to this kind of ISO performance. Thanks for sharing this as it shows us all what can be achieved with a good camera and solid techs. The Chickadee looks great with the bug.
    Nice work Dan
