Default A Classic Lower Falls of Yellowstone Rainbow

On sunny mornings around 9:30 or 10 a.m. the light is right for a rainbow to appear in the mist at the bottom of the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Taken from Artist Point.

    Canon 5D3
    70-200 II @ 175mm
    1/90
    f16
    ISO 50
Tripod, mirror lock-up, cropped slightly from bottom and left to remove an intruding branch from llc, levels, curves, sharpened in CCPS.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

It is the "classic" view, nicely done.
I assume you took some slow SS versions, I would like to see one of those.

Beautiful scene Rachel...I could see this as a very nice B&W conversion too :)

    Hi Rachel

Never been here but this is a classical shot well done... I like the fact you can (Just) see bodies at the top of the fall RHS.. Provides a good sense of perspective. I might consider lightening the forest above the falls just a touch.. It Looks a little darker.

Lovely shot - I just got back from there last week, and spent 4 hours at this spot to watch the light come into the canyon. Nice detail on the rainbow and good light. As I'm going through my images I like both the closer shot like this and the wider view with the river flowing from the waterfalls.

I think the word "Classic" really describe this shot really well. Very well executed, Rachel. I still see some snow lingering! :D

It looks like a painting Rachel. Really nice.

I'd be keen to see a RP with perhaps slightly darker midtones, and a hint more saturation overall.
Loving the layers and colours here.

Morkel - This may be a little more than you had in mind but both midtones darkened and sat upped.

    Thanks again everyone,
    Rachel

Rachel, in this case, I can't pick a favorite in this case. Both works for me but the OP does have that 10AM shot feeling to it.

Thanks Adhika. Yes, the op is much closer to what the naked eye saw at the time.

Beautiful shot. Both photos will work depending on the mood desired.
