I had a trip to Cairngorm at the weekend, on the hunt for this rare bird. I was fortunate to find, and photograph the bird of which there are only 30 known breeding pairs in Scotland.

    Will:

Wonderful to get an opportunity with such a rare bird in your area. Light was very soft, but it certainly helped capture the details without harsh shadows. Fantastic eye. Nice head angle, and shooting angle.

Hope to see more of this beauty.

    Cheers

Nice job getting this rarity William. I like the colors and details. Looks kind of like our eared grebe in North America. Well done

Will that eye is something else, birds colour and feather detail stands out well against that almost grey water, nice bow wave to top it off.

Hi Will, lovely low shooting angle, as well as a great HA too. Love how the colours pop from the overcast conditions, and well done for capturing a rare species. One I never knew existed.
