A very nice wing position, but unfortunately having the bird flying away from you has hurt the image.

Hi Mike Thank you for the feedback. I want to understand why we should always shoot birds in Flight - Bird flying toward you and not Bird flying away from you ?

    Thanks
    Krishna

    Krishna,

I'm sure other people can word it better than me, but in my opinion it's simply more pleasing to the eye to get the bird towards you to some degree. To me, it feels like there is a more relaxed subject that isn't trying to escape from the photographer, and eye contact is always a powerful asset to an image.

Others may disagree, it'll be interesting to see what opinions are about.

    Hi Krishna,

Mike is right, you don't want to photograph birds flying away from you. These are simply not that attractive, just imagine if you want to photograph a person, do you photograph them facing towards the camera or walking away from it? There are exceptions but here it just doesn't work, especially since the far wing position isn't great and the bird isn't looking back at you

A nice capture t any rate. I wonder if you are able to pull more detail out of the whites in the wings. You have good tools to do that in LR, but might want to mask it to just the wings if you go further than you have here.
