Avian, Captive and Hand of Man IOTW 05/30/2008 Brutus Ostling
Congratulations Brutus Ostling! Delievery - hoopoe male earns his female
The male delievered regularly, between two and four-five times per hour, most in the morning. (I have posted backlit hoopoes in the Europe-thread, see below.)
This photo will probably not do for my book this autumn, but chapter one shall be about the three important things for a male bird who wants to attract and keep a female happy: To be beautiful, strong and rich! (Rich is of course a metaphor.)
The nest is an old used cement round thing used for ditches when you wanr the ditch to go under a road (can't come up with an English word for it). Therefor hand of man.
I love this bird! Colorful, wings down clean eye, smooth background, bug in the beak, and that hairdo. The subject alone makes this one for me. I did not care too much for the log, but the bird makes up for it by far! Well deserved IOTW.
