Hi Joe, I wish we had birds like this in Montana..... I love close-up portraits of animals especially images that really show case the color and beauty in the eyes. I appreciate the detail of the feathers, lore and beak and the sharpness and clarity of the eye. TFS
Love it Joe, great detail and exposure. Interestingly, in addition to the green lore, i notice the reddish eye instead of the yellow. I tried to find out if this too is a breeding occurrence and not specific to this bird but couldn't get the info... Also, I also wondered about which gender has the green loves, I thought the male bc they usually have the more attractive colorings but i read that the green lore changes once eggs are laid... some info but doesn't quite answer the mystery... Also, the top of the bill changes to black as your images shows during breeding only.
Thanks everyone for viewing and commenting, very much appreciated.
Ann, thank you for all the information. Artie once asked me if I had captured the red eye in any of my images from Gatorland, at the time I was not sure what he meant. Now I do. I really had not thought about red eye/yellow eye to you mentioned it in your comments. Thank you.
