Annette,I really like the way the reindeer is separated from background. The background with the fog is so clean in fact that I think I might have wanted to remove the stuff above the hip and particularly the green bar extending from the tail. Just me, but I really like the shot.

Hi Dennis,Thank you very much for your time to comment. The stuff above the hip, so far it did not disturb me much. These are rocks, the cultural heritage would have been disturbing very much. We will see what the others say. Thanks a lotHave a great weekendCiao. Anette

Hi Anette lovely pose of the Reindeer and the setting does look very nice and clean , the fog does give a nice overall depth .
Lovely colors and overall good tonality .
I just think you went a bit overboard in the whites with the contrast and in parts the local contrast , just my thinklng . If you temper the whites that might help ???
I agree that a bit more room on the LHS and bottom would not hurt .
Have a nice day , TFS Andreas

Anette just a tad more on the bottom showing that nice greenery and the flowers, the Reindeer looks fine to me and that fade away backdrop sets it all off nicely .

I like this one a lot! Lots of details showing on the reindeer and those horns are quite "funky"
Great depth in the BG and I like the slight purple tinge on the vegetation
Svalbard has been on my bucket list for a while. Think I need to plan my trip soon!

Lovely shot I like his velvet and the background looks good to me.... a tad more on the base for me too. The whites in the fur have a high contrast, you were there I wasn't.. but are they a little bright??

Hi Anette - He looked up for you which doesn't always happen. I love the fog in the bg. Agree about the whites. You know I love my negative space but I feel there's a bit too much on the right. Would also prefer a bit more room below and to the left. Certainly looks like you had a good return trip to Svalbard.

Rachel

Hi All,
thank you very much for all your comments.
I have no more room on bottom nor on left, sadly. I can add some!
Rachel and Andreas, will check out the whites in the layers.
That you very much everybody.
Wish you all a great weekend
Ciao Anette

Hi Anette -- Very Lovely reindeer scape here , i really liked the settings and the look into the camera is just wonderful . I too agree with the space constraint at the bottom and lhs , and agree on the whites bit too . But overall a beautiful image .
TFS !

Hi Anette, I really like the midst rolling in, very true to the location and gives great atmosphere to the overall look & feel.
The face head on with the wild flowers is a nice touch and helps engage with the viewer. I do feel even with the RP the image lacks tonal depth within the whites & brighter whites, plus it seems to echo LCE being applied??? Not sure what you meant by no sharpening as ALL digital images require sharpening. I do think you would have time to recompose after this, or even wait a little more for another opportunity, as I'm sure the Reindeer would have easily looked up again just to check you out and this would have elevated the image.

Excellent composition, lave the way it is low in the frame with in focus foreground and fading away OOF background.
Also like the full head turn looking into the camera.

No sharpening was meant that I did not do selective sharpening on the jpeg file,
just global
Why Global????
LCE - I just thought it had that look?
There was actually not much time to recompose, this one was feeding on the go!
OK, can appreciate that, even with my own 'Dancer & Prancer' as you will have seen.

One of the better reindeer portraits I've seen. RP nails it...
