Green-winged Teal
Repost in post 8
Adjustments were for cropping, levels and sharpness. Removed some odd highlights and bright spots and a couple possible distracting elements from the background.

It's not every day we get to see a Green-winged Teal sitting on ice! At first I thought those were feathers, but the image got a whole lot better once I realized that was snow. Good details, especially on the fine barring on the flanks. If mine I would almost certainly crop some off the bottom as the comp, as posted, is rather boxy. Nice way to tie in last month's and this month's themes together.

Lovely looking bird, the ice definitely adds another element and interest. As Daniel suggested I think a different crop, possibly a 2x3. Thank you for sharing, John.

Beautiful duck nicely captured in a unique setting, John. I might take a bit off the top and bottom. Looks as if the image could also use some CW rotation.

Sharp with a nice head turn back towards you. The trick here would have been to be 8 yards to your left and on the ground! a

Never seen a teal on ice. Beautiful detail and color, nice head turn. Ditto the cropping suggestions above.

Thank you everyone for your responses and critiques. I was arguing which crop and went to the less effective one.
Artie, I forgot my waterproof pants and was not about to get down in the snow. I would have liked to get to the left as you said but he was getting nervous.

Here is the suggested repost. I wish I could have added Artie's suggestions in.

Hi John, I know the drill :) I am glad that you understood my point. Where is this magical place? a

This is at the Lemmon Valley water treatment facility settling pond a couple miles north of Reno, NV.

I like your repost John, what a beauty you have. Love the snow on the ice, the teal on the ice, and those fluffed up feathers keeping the duck warm! Nice work.
