Photographed on an overcast day in 2004.
The water of this small lake was carpeted with this cool looking vegetation.
    Thanks for looking.

Hi Karl, looking at your shooting techs, are you sure this wasnt from 1904. No worries, I started off with a 20D. This certainly fits the theme. A nice relaxed pose from the Pintail, and I do like the colourful wing, together with the splash of red on the beak. Maybe a little off the bottom.

Fab colours all around Karl. Even though the BG is rich in colour I think the detail on the bird stands out well. Nice one.

What a great looking ducks species and I love the red on the bill. Nice relaxed pose and the carpet of colorful vegetation adds to the image. Nice work Karl

I like the feather patterns, red on beak and interesting BG. Was this taken in Ontario? Well done Karl!

Good question. Where was this photographed? Have you been to the Galapagos? The duck is too dark, especially the face, that from the bird and the head being angled away. Some selective curves work and a layer of my NIK Color Efex Pro applied selectively would do wonders for this one. I think that I will take a crack at it. a

Thanks Artie your repost is a great improvement.
I knew it was not the best image but it brings up some good memories.
I took this image on a Galapagos Islands trip that was organized by a local
birder and it was a birding trip not a photo shooting trip.
I was the only guy in the group who had some knowledge of bird photography.
    (Not much to be honest.)

    Hey Karl,

YAW. I knew that the pink stuff was either Azolla fern or cranberries :)
