Was undecided as to whether this was a Red-breasted Merganser or a Goosander but the bill was the deciding factor. This is a first summer male bird.

Very pleasant shot david, and that sunlight has lifted it too. Nice exposure as well. Got these on the Severn here but can't get near them- too many catapult shots from "anglers" !!

Nice image David, lovely detail on the bird. Good HA, and I like the water colour, I may be tempted to lower the contrast on the water down, a wee bit, and also burn the brightest whites on the bird. Great capture, like John I cant get near them.

Nice looking image David, you really have nailed the exposure, the red on the beak looks a bit strong but I am sure this is most likely my monitor .

Thanks to all. Thanks for the tip to lower the contrast on the water Will. I tried it on a tif version and it really helps.

Hi David, great HA here, and I do like the detail and various colours on this fellow. Good advice above regarding the contrast, and if this were mine, I would come up from the bottom to create more of a pano comp.
