No pun intended, but great catch!
Very nice of the heron to turn around for you. Perfect details and exposure. Like the eye contact with the bird and the fish both.
I think I see some processing artifacts in the BG in a few areas. Definitely worth reprocessing carefully. Lovely image Karl

    Thanks Gail.
I actually looked at the image at 400% before I posted it and did not find any obvious artifacts.
However, my eyesight is pretty poor and won't se what you see.
What I did was instead, I cleaned the bottom part that I did not before and got rid of some of the funny looking natural features that I did not really like to begin with.
    Here it is.

Nice image with strong but good light, good HA and nice prey inclusion. I like the seaweed on the leg. Repost is much cleaner...there is still some weird yellow haze around the right foot and just to the right of that on the perch??

A wonderful capture, Karl. Couldn't have asked for better angle and eye contact, nor better view of the fish. As Geoff said, strong but good light. What I'm seeing is a little posterization in the bg -- an issue that has plagued me when working on dark bg's. Diane offered some advice on a recent post of mine, here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...n-Yellowthroat

Thanks Bill. I'll look into that posterization issue.
