    Default Juvenile Tri-colored Heron

I captured this image on Wednesday at Circle B Bar Reserve in Polk County, Florida. I was feeding where a culvert crossed the trail. I tried to get one with the fish's head pointing towards me but all the fish were aligning facing into the current, heads away from me. This is the best of many images captured, the depth of field was only 0.75 inches (0.020m). I needed that aperture to capture the water background slightly blurred. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Very nice Joe.
Great IQ and love the feather detail in the neck.
Amazing you got all this at F 5.6- the long beak and fish lined up perfectly for you!

Too bad the fish was not pointing towards us, as you mention, but such is the case at times. The rusty feathers look great against the dark water BG. I'm really digging the watery film between the bill tip and the fish - pretty cool.

Lovely sharp details, Joe. Really captures the intensity of a heron stare. The dark blue BG works well.

Hi Joe, I rteally like the curved pose from this fellow, and brilliant detail you have achieved on the plumage. As the Heron is parallel to you, you didnt really have to worry about the DOF. Love the dark blue water, and maybe move him to right a touch.
