Not quite a Norwegian Blue LOL , (sorry to those who are not Monty Python fans), however I have just started to review/edit some of the images from my recent trip to Svalbard archipelago, one of my favourite locations to shoot in, plus some spectacular birds there too, but just to get back into the swing of posting, here is a Northern Pintail (I hope?), preening. It's not going to set the world alight, but I just like the simplicity of it and the wonderful plumage.
Thanks to those who viewed or posted a comment on the previous thread. Apologies in not replying, I just purely ran out of time before leaving for the trip.
Hi Akos, I could crop a little tighter, certainly on the LHS, but like to give a bit of breathing space to the subject. Been a bit more funky on the Svalbard shots LOL.
I really like the amazing detail and the colours are super. I like the composition but would consider a little off the base say to where the first line of text is located.
I think the high shutter speed was a wise decision, the detail is excellent.
Thanks guys, as I said in the intro, not a stunner, but very happy with the depth of detail and the coloration that as come through in the plumage and the water droplets retained on the chest as it just surfaced from being in the water.

Yes Jon, I just keep pushing the SS irrespective of ISO now, been like that for quite a while, albeit in this instance it stemmed from shooting BIF.
magnificent preening pose with apt title. Superb colour pallet. Elegant feathers display with great details, beautiful water droplets on belly.
Very nice composition.
Very well captured and processed. I really like the fine feather and water drop details and subtle colors. I've taken note of your comment regarding using higher than "normal" SS when possible.
