Geoff:
This one made me laugh, because it took a second to figure out which way the head was facing (UP).
The water spray and head position tells the story of what is going on. Pleasant background.
No eye contact to speak of, but, it still works great.
I might have placed the bird a bit higher in the frame, even with that head position, because our brains respond to the overall body position as a clue to how the bird should fit in the frame (at least mine does )
Cheers

Hi Geoff, a unique capture, and well timed for the moment. Great that the wings are spread, and I like how the droplets stand out against the darker sky BG. I also like the hint of rim light along the edge of the wings. Im not sure if you shoot + EC, but a bit more exposure on the underwings would have helped bring out a touch more detail there.

Geoff:
I prefer the repost, and I think the slightly tighter crop also draws more attention the the action of the head shake.

Repost is better Geoff. The image is a dream capture and it looks like you have the detail that it needs to make it work....well done!

Too tight for me. I don't feel the tight crop makes one look at the head more or less. I suspect the fact we can't see the eye makes one instantly seek out the details anyway. But that's my thoughts.
Really love the capture, well done. The repost is ideal for me as well.
TFS.

+1 for the repost. Excellent timing, lovely BG and details. Don't recall seeing an osprey doing the shake and twist posted before. Terrific image. Very nicely done Geoff.
