I can't remember all I did to this one that included altering the colors from very cool to warmer but the last thing was Topaz Impression.

I'm glad to see so many people using Topaz Impression. I felt that a lot of people were skeptical when it first came out and it's nice to see it getting a workout in OOTB. I like the abstract nature of this piece of driftwood alongside of the colorful grass. The little white patch in the upper right area feels out of place and I would probably evict it. Very nice!

The processing and colours are very pretty. I like the movement in the grasses at the top. My eye moves nicely through the frame, except the white patch caught my eye too. I googled the beach and it looks like a spectacular place to photograph. Are you back?

Thanks Kerry and Jackie! Good suggestion about the white patch. I fixed it and found other things I wanted to changed. I burned the edges first using the Camera Raw Radial filter, then by hand over parts of it, and I burned the black parts at the top and other parts in the background that I thought were too light. I also increased the overall contrast a little. I like it better this way as it looked too flat on 2nd look.

You included just enough to capture and convey the feel of this beach. Love the way the grasses contrast against the low, and seem to surround it protectively. Getting rid of the light area along top edge was a good move. The first version has a lighter upper area and lighter shadow area in the hollow of the log, which I prefer over the darker second version. I love the simplicity and crop.

Thanks Anita. I see your point about the darker areas and perhaps I over-did the contrast and burning in some places and I think the bottom log looked better a little lighter too. I don't think I'll go for a re-do right now as I have too many more photos from the trip to work on.

Hi, Judy, sorry I'm late but I like the repost better as the bright spot in the upper edge drew my attention immediately. Nicely seen

I'm very late to the discussion. I particularly like the interplay of the grass and log. I prefer the more open shadow area in the original. Eliminating the white spot is an improvement.
