Post rut elk herds start to band up for the winter in Yellowstone. Captured this image in late October. A dominant bull was still with this herd of cows and calves searching for cows late to come into estrus.. Single image cropped to pano.

Such a subtle thing, but I really like the placement of the bull in the frame, right on the third, with his antlers above the horizon so they standout against the blue sky. Cool image, how big a bull was he?

Hey Jason, Not a huge bull by any means be he sure had the ladies.... I think the biggest bulls that participated in most of the breeding are pretty much wiped out by late October and are concentrating on regaining their strength before winter..

wow ! what a wonderful place .. very nice composition and colors .. the contrast between ground and sky colors made an effective picture .. the male buck's horns took my attention at the first time (there is only one male between them) when i looked at this.. I hope to visit Yellowstone national park one day ..

Very nicely done! I really like the composition, and definitely agree about the excellent placement of the buck.
