The colour and the detail on the bird is lovely and sits well on the nice bg,trunk of the tree does draw my eye a bit which is a shame, can't always get them just where we would like them, after saying this Bill I would be very pleased if it was mine.

Great looking hawk indeed with t a nice profile pose. The head tilted down makes me think it was observing something below. Yes, the trunk competes for attention - it would have been great for the hawk to give you a look-back head angle here to get it looking away from said trunk, but nature does not always abbey on command! A few processing artifacts to be cleaned at bottom.

Beautiful raptor, nice detail and color, Bill. The tree trunk could go, it would improve the image IMO.

Excellent image of beautifully coloured raptor.
Love the details and his stare. Beautiful composition too.
Seeing for the first time. TFS.

Thank you all. I hadn't thought of removing the trunk -- it's a rather severe intervention -- but it does improve the image. I may have introduced a hint of posterization in converting to jpeg. Daniel, I'm not seeing the artifacts you refer to , but maybe I got rid of them here?

Great work, Bill. The light is very appealing, and I prefer the extraction of the tree. Nice detail too.

Bill must say I prefer it without the trunk just keeps my eye on the bird.

Cool looking raptor Bill. I like the colors and the detail in this and the re-post with the tree removed looks much better IMO. Well done
