Tripod Canon 1DX Canon 180mm macro @ approx 1:1, ISO 1600, 1/250 sec f16
This was not easy! I tried various techniques, manual focus and a focusing rack then auto focus with back button and with shutter button. Eventually I decided shutter button AF was the way to go.
I would appreciate your strongest critique ignore the dust spots it is technical competence and visual appeal I would like your views on please.
The activity is clearly shown, good timing. Well exposed, effective dof at this high mag.
Light is perhaps a bit bright, with some shadows and sheen on the stalk. Natural light vs. flash?
Perhaps a bit too much negative space on the left. Could crop up a sliver from below and left to help with that. There is a bug free gap on the stem just up from the bottom where it could be cropped.
As you well know, I am not much of a macro photographer, just lending my perspective from the bird world.
