Canon not supporting version / mark 1 after 2017 ; is it true ?

İn an forum i read that after 2017 will not support version 1 lenses , any opinion about this issue ?

The support for old equipment ceases at some point. it doesn't surprise me.

I spoke to Canon UK this morning. I was informed that for the 500mm and 600mm Mk1 lenses no date has been set for discontinuing support. They will give 12 months notice for when they will discontinue support.
