    Default Common Kingfisher

    f/8.0, 1/800, ISO-800, CAnon 7d with Canon 100-400mm IS USM Lens.

We were on vacation to Kerala and were having the ride in the backwaters at Kumarkom.
There I saw this and requested the boat driver to take us close to it. He took us so close that at 400mm, this much body of his was visible.
I was spellbound that though we were so close, this buddy was sitting so calmly.
I took few snaps in hurry and then my son asked "father, what is its name ?" and with that Kingfisher went away, but no regrets.

    C & C are most welcome.

Lovely colors and background. I would sharpen the head area a bit more as it seem there's a bit of motion blur and the critical focus was more on the shoulder area and I may be tempted to crop a bit tighter aswell, just by taking a bit from the bottom.

Great capture Shantanu. Its good when you get close to these birds. The colours are very nice and the BG fits in aswell. I think the bird is a bit soft. Thanks for sharing
