During my stay in Cape Town in early January, I managed to come away with a fair amount of Pelican images. Here is one set against the distant mountains of Cape Town. Taken early morning.

Beautiful light and exposure. Lovely pose and details. From your specs you appear to have had tons of light, but the whites are so well controlled. The mountain bg adds a nice depth to the image. Lovely image Stu.

Nice flight frame Stuart. The wings down pose looks great and I really like the exposure on this one. The hills add to the BG and give it a nice touch. Well done

Beautiful composition and as usual the plumage detail is outstanding and just to finish it off the pose is just about perfect.

Lovely frame, Stuart, and I love the hint of mountain the BG. Your light was gorgeous and really show off all the feather details in the pelican.

Lovely flight pose and exposure on the whites is superb! The IQ coming from that 300 and 2x is very impressive indeed

Yes, those mountains are an important part of the image...one that would be far different without them there. Good comp, exposure, details, processing.

Stuart I can't think of a thing you could do to improve this excellent shot.

Stuart forgot to mention that 300mm F/2.8 +2X TC really worked well on this plus a little help from the guy driving it.

    Cheers Keith.

Beautiful light, bird and background. The steely blue- gray color of the sky is so nice.
