Just a simple portrait of a BBP. I really liked the BG on the image and for me it was a rare moment to get close to one. They are extremely shy here and for some reason this individual didn't mind coming very close to me while I was photographing a few other shorebirds.

Nice one Raybel The IQ looks good so I reckon you could crop a bit closer. As I said a while back-I think close ups should be just that . The shoulder area on this one does not say a lot for the pic so I suggest the bigger crop. Just my personal take- others will no doubt have other ideas. I lke the subtle gradation in th BG

Thank you for the comment and suggestion John. I had the same feeling about cropping tighter but I wasnt sure. Always good to have another person confirming what you have in the back of the mind.

Hi Raybel ,I am fine with the crop would not want to see any loss of that excellent b/g,you have some excellent detail and you would have a job to get it sharper than this, super image.

Love that BG. Nice light and sharp details. Congrats on getting a tight portrait of a shy bird. I would love to photograph one of these in breeding plumage in a few months.

Hi Raybel, love the light in this, which in turn has brought out nice warm colours. The feather detail is sharp, and I can see a version with just coming up from the bottom a touch.
